When Dark Memories knock at your door (Ivy and Thomas)

I looked at him and sighed. "I'm sorry, Thomas," I told him quietly. "I...don't talk about me and my problems usually, I'm sorry."

"Your forgiven Ivy" Thomas replied gently

I had had the most terrible day, everything coming back to get me. But would I solve anything by talking about it? Isn't it better to keep it for myself. I sighed. "So," I said. "Did you find anything else about the case?"

"Not much" Thomas replied

I pressed my lips together and nodded. "Yeah... It's the same as eight years ago," I said. "He doesn't leave anything behind."

Thomas nodded, then took a sip of his drink

I sighed and took a sip of my drink as well.

Thomas sat back a bit and watched her

I looked at him and met his eyes. "What?" I asked.

"You going to be okay lass?" Thomas replied

"I'm going to be fine," I told him with a painful smile. I didn't know if that was true, but of course that's what I was saying.

Thomas nodded, seeing the pain in Ivy's smile as she said that

I kept thinking about one particular thing Danny had told me: that I should leave the case, because I won't be able to do my work right. But I was sure I wasn't like that. I was sure I could do it and I could do it perfectly. I stared blankly at my glass and then back at Thomas. "Do you...Do you think I should leave the case?" I asked him.

"Only if you can't keep yourself in the right frame of mind." Thomas replied gently

"But what do you think?" I asked him. "Can I?"

"I have a feeling you can" Thomas said to her in a reassuring tone

For the first time in that night, I sincerely smiled. He believed in me, unlike Danny. "Thank you," I said.

"Your most welcome lass" Thomas replied

I smiled and took a sip of my drink.

Thomas did the same after sitting back in his chair

I glanced at my watch. "Oh, look how late it is, you probably got work in the morning," I told him. I really hadn't noticed how the time had passed.

"I have the day off tomorrow" Thomas replied

I looked at him. It was so nice what he was doing, comforting me, even though he hadn't known me for a long time. "Oh," I said. "But Shannon might be worried..."

Thomas nodded, he finished his drink, then disposed of the cup, "Lets go then" he said to her

I stood up and we got out of the pub.
