Dark memories (anyone)

I was in my office, sitting at my desk and looking at some photos from the new case. When I saw them, I don't know how, but I managed to stop my tears, although my hand was shaking terribly. All 18-year-old girls, all with the same marks on the wrist. It was clearly the same man, I just couldn't believe he was back, after all these eight years...

Thomas walked up to Ivy's office and gently knocked on the door, seeing her hand shake, he had a feeling that something had shaken her to the core, "Ivy?" he called out out in a gentle tone, his Irish accent noticeable when he said that to her

When I heard the voice, I left the files on the desk and wiped the unexisting tears on my cheek. "Hi, Thomas," I said and forced a smile. "Come in."

Thomas walked in, "Everything okay?" he asked as he sat across from Ivy, he saw the pain in her eyes as he sat there, it was then he saw the photos on the desk and figured that it was the photos that got her upset

"Umm... Yeah," I said after a pause. I was trying to be convincing, but I was failing. "Yeah, I was just looking at these photos and... They were all so young," I said and then raised my eyes from the files.

Thomas listened to Ivy as she said that to him, then nodded, "Ivy, if you want to step back, then do so." he said to her

"I don't think it would be the best thing to do," I said with a frown. "I think I might know more than other people from here do," I continued. Then I realised that maybe it wasn't the best thing to say that, so I tried to change the topic. "They are all 18-year-olds and they all have these wounds on the wrist," I said quickly.

Thomas looked at the photos that Ivy had in front of her, "Were they restrained?" he asked

"The wrist?" I asked. "No, they are knife wounds. I know, not very visible, but enough to loose an important quantity of blood. You can see the same marks on their ankles. Anyway, the cause of death is the strangulation. They were all found on different hotel rooms, after parties, alcohol in their sistem," I said, closed my eyes and sighed.

Thomas nodded, "Any sign of sexual assault?" he asked, still looking at the photos, the women all looked young, something that bothered him, "How old were the victims?"

"All 18," I said. "And no, no signs of rape. That's pretty weird, he just takes them in the bedroom and kills them, nothing else. What does he get from that?"

"A sence of power" Thomas replied, "And by killing them in their bedrooms, he lets his victim know that he has invaded their space and that there is nothing she can do about it." he added, his voice heavy as he spoke

I listened to him with big eyes. It was making sense. "Psycho," I murmured as I stared down at my hand.

Thomas looked up at Ivy, "Aye" he replied in agreement before looking back at the photos

I didn't say anything at the beginning, but after that, I thought that maybe it would be better if someone would know. "Look," I said finally. "I think you should know something. I don't know if it's important for the case, but at least I'll feel a little better."

Thomas looked back up at Ivy, "What is it?" he asked, wondering what she is going to say next

I sighed and then started the story. "Eight years ago, a killer, I strongly believe this killer, started to murder 18-year-old girls just like he does now. He was never caught." I made a pause and took a deep breath. "Maybe you should see it," I said as I straightened my arm to him, letting him see the two little scars on my wrist.

Thomas looked at the scars on Ivy's wrist, then back at her, "The lad that did this to you, is it the same lad that killed these ladies?" he asked as gently as he could, not wanting to upset Ivy

"I-I think so... It's identical. A party, alcohol, he gets the girl into his room and kills her," I sighed and closed my eyes again. "I was just lucky," I said, thinking that I could have been in those girls' place.

Thomas nodded, "I'll help you find him, Ivy." he said to her

"Good," I said. "Where should we start? We don't have a name, or anything left. All the crimes happened at Wellington Hotel. I do believe I would recognize him. Do we go to talk with the people there?"

Thomas nodded, "It would be a good place to start." he replied as he stood up

I stood up too and took my jacket. Before putting it on, I looked again at the two scars on my wirst. When I was seeing them, it was like replaying the whole horror night I had had.

Thomas stood up and went to get his jacket, he stopped at the door and looked at Ivy, "Ivy, what is it?" he asked

I was walking in direction of Ivy's office, I needed to ask her something my case. And when I arrived over there I just saw Thomas who was looking at Ivy and asked a question. So I look at Ivy too. I didn't want to interrupt them, but was a little urgent. "Scuse, Ivy do you have the file about the previous case, the one we did together on ?"
