"What's on your mind?" I asked as he looked at me.

"This case" Thomas replied

I nodded. "Anything patictular?"

"Just that it was hard on Katrina" Thomas replied

"I bet it was. But from what I know... she's going to be okay." I replied in a gentle tone.

Thomas nodded, "Aye, she will be" he replied

I gave him a small smile. "I'm sorry for the girl, though. But otherwise I'm glad he's going where he belongs."

Thomas nodded in agreement to Haylen's statement

I looked down and took a sip of my water which I ordered.

Thomas did the same with his drink, at the same time, he looked over at a family that was behind them

I followed his gaze and smiled a little watching them.

Thomas looked at the family, he smiled a bit, then looked back at Haylen

I looked at him for a moment, not sure what to say.

Thomas looked at Haylen, "You would make a great mother." he said after a while

"How's that?" I asked, a little surprised that he said that.

I walked back to Mac's office and look at him.

"Your loyal, caring, protective" Thomas replied

I smile a little when he said that and nodded. "That I am, though I have great family around to learn from."

Thomas nodded in reply, "Aye, you do" he said to her

I smiled a little.

Meanwhile Mac looked back at Katrina, not sure what he should say now. "Sterling's gonna live with her mother."

at the same time, Thomas and Haylen's food came

I started my lunch in silence, not really knowing what to say.

Thomas did the same, "How is Keven?" he asked after a while

"He's fine. He's got a new rookie he can train now." I said, smiling a little.
