family secret (Haylen)

Thomas sighed, "We better have a talk with your mother." he said to Haylen

"You believe it's his DNA that matches yours?" I asked him, actually a little surprised. "Well, I was working on getting a reference sample. I thing we should be sure before talking to her."

Thomas nodded, then sighed, "Aye" he replied, "Do that, then we will talk to her."

I looked at him with a slight confused expression but finished my task with getting the DNA into the computer as well. Once that was done I checked it and came back with a match to the sample Thomas had been searching. I looked at him.
"Nice to meet you, brother." I stated, still a little confused.

Thomas looked at her, "Brother as is half or full?" he asked, confused as well

"Half. You were born before my parents met, of that I am certain." I replied, looking at him. "But the fact that my dad never spoke about another woman in his life who had a son... I think he didn't know about you."

Thomas nodded slowly, "All I know from the nuns and monks who raised me was that my mother was ashamed." he replied

I sighed a little. "I only remember that my dad went to Ireland on a trip. He was quite young back then." I replied, looking at him.

"He could have been trying to find me." Thomas replied

"I meant he went there before you were born. Meaning... maybe my mom knows more about it." I said, looking at him, with a bit of uncertainty.

Thomas nodded, "We better talk to her then." he replied

I nodded slightly, still a little confused and trying to realize what we just found out. That changed a lot of things but mostly for him and I was trying to figure out how he was feeling about it right now, but I had to admit, it was kind of hard.
So I quietly walked next him.

Thomas walked next to her, trying to make sence of this as well, but he now understood why he was protective of Haylen

While walking to the break room I glanced at him and gave him a small smile as he glanced back. Somehow it made perfect sense that we were always watching out for each other, as if we knew the truth.
When my mother saw us coming she got up and waited for us to arrive.

Thomas smiled back at Haylen, then walked into the room

My mother walked up to me and then looked at us.
"May I introduce you to Thomas Kelly. Tom, my mother." I introduced them.
My mother offered her hand with a warm smile. "Angela Becall. Nice to meet you."

Thomas shook Angela's hand, "Nice to meet you as well." he replied, "Your daughter is an amazing detective." he added

My mother smiled. That compliment obviously made her proud. "Thank you, Detective Kelly." she said. I smiled a little when I watched them. He made me blush a little.

Thomas nodded in reply, "Your welcome" he replied

"Well... we'd like to ask you something... more personal about dad." I said, looking at my mother and then at Thomas.
"What is it?" she asked, looking at us.

Thomas looked at Haylen, then at Angela, "Haylen and I just discovered that we are related." he said gently, "We have the same father, but you are not my mother." he added in the same tone

Angela was just as surprised I we were. She looked at us for a moment and then sat back down.
"Well... what do you need to know?" she asked in the same gentle tone, not knowing much about Thomas.

"I need to know who my mother is and who has our father." Thomas replied as he sat across from her

Angela sighed a little.
"Well... the only person that come to my mind was a young lady he met on his trip to Ireland. But I can't remember a name. I'm sure my husband can." she replied looking at Thomas with a sad smile. "I believe the former owner of the last company he bought took him, because they want the exact amound of money that was spend to buy it."

Thomas nodded, "What is the name of this company and the lad that was with him?" he asked
