family secret (Haylen)

"Well, I know the family on that photo... and I know the victim." I said seriously.

Thomas looked at her, then nodded, "How do you know them?" he asked

"Because the vic is my father, as I suppose. And that photo is my family." I replied.

Thomas looked at Haylen, then sighed, "I would ask you to step down, but I get the feeling you won't."

"You're damn right about it. But I guess I better let the suspect to you, because if he hurt my dad in anyway, and with that amount of blood he obviously did.... he won't survive me." I replied seriously.

Thomas nodded, "We better get back to the lab" he replied, he still didn't know that he would find out his connection to this case

Neither did I. I nodded in reply and got my kit, not aware of what I was going to find out. But I was worried about my father.

I fell silent on the way back to the lab, not knowing what my mother would tell me what the kidnapper said to her, all she said was they wanted money...

Thomas was silent on the way back as well, knowing that Haylen was worried for her father

As we got to the lab I got out of the SUV and took my kit with the evidence with me, but waited for Thomas, before I left for the elevator.

Thomas got what he had found, then joined Haylen at the door

Once at the lab, I found my mom wasn't there yet, so I walked to the lab, to start processing.
"Who takes the blood?"

"I'll take it" Thomas replied

I nodded and started with the knife.

Thomas walked into the DNA lab and started to process the blood

I started to process the knife, finding a finger print to run and hoped it would get me somewhere. At the same time I saw my mother walking down the corridor with the visitor tag on her jacket.

Thomas got the DNA into the machine, then waited for the results

At the same time I walked into the DNA lab after I told my mother to wait in the breakroom and I'll keep her up to date. She brought dad's inhaler from his meds he took when needed and I was using it to get his DNA into the system. A dreadful thought to me.
I gave Tom a small smile when I entered the lab and got to work.

Thomas smiled back at Haylen as he waited, "You okay?" he asked

I stop for a moment and look up at him. "Worried sick..." I replied with a small sigh.

Thomas nodded, "Understandable" he replied as the computer beeped, "I would be the same way if....." he started to say before stopping midsentance

When he didn't finish his sentence I looked up at him with a somewhat worried expression.
"What is it?" I asked.

"The DNA from the bloody hand print matches an internal control sample.....mine." Thomas replied as he showed Haylen the results

I stood now next to him, looking at the result he got and then looked at him, actually I wasn't really sure what to say to him. I knew what the result meant.
