Not an Accident [Thomas, Don]

I locked the door behind us and walked to the car with her, getting to her former home.

Lilyana looked out the window during the ride

I stopped in front of the building looking around. It was a nice neighborhood where they lived. I looked at Lilyana and smiled a little.

Lilyana looked around, "Who lives here?" she asked

Lilyana looked at Haylen, then nodded a bit, "I can't remember"

Now I was worried. Was she trying to tell me something or what was this about? I wasn't really sure what to do now.
"I see....." I said slowly.

Lilyana looked at the house, then back at Haylen, "Can we go?" she asked

"The store, I want to get things for my room." Lilyana replied, it was clear that something was bugging her

"What's up, Lilyana? I know something's on your mind and you can talk to me about everything, ok?" I said in a gentle tone.

Lilyana nodded, then looked at Haylen, "A man hurt me" she said

Now that shocked me.
"What did he do to you?" I asked, obviously worried.

Lilyana looked down, a bit embarrassed to say

I felt it and looked at her. I had a bad feeling about this.
"It's okay, sweetie." I said, not wanting to push her.

Lilyana looked up, then composed herself

I started the car and got us to the store, understanding that she didn't want to keep anything.

Lilyana looked out the window for a bit, then back to Haylen, "I'm into camping" she said

"Really? I was, too." I replied, actually surprised that a girl her age was into camping.

Lilyana nodded, "Yep" she replied, "Could we do that sometime?" she asked

"Sure. Haven't been camping in a while." I replied in a lighter tone.

Lilyana smiled when Haylen said that

Once at the store I got out and waited for her. We head inside together and got the most necessary things first, meaning some decoration stuff, some paint, because I thought it may be a good idea to paint the room in her favorite color. She chose a chocolate brown for one wall and a mild cappuccino tone for the rest.
After that was done we went to buy some new clothes, as she needed some as well.

Lilyana walked close to Haylen as thy shopped, she was thankful that she did this for her

I was thinking about Lilyana's mother for a moment, thinking that this was what she would have done for me and I was glad that I took her in and she accepted. And I was glad to have my friends support.
