Not an Accident [Thomas, Don]

I nodded in reply, not really knowing what to say.


Lilyana smiled. "I did. I grew up there, how could I not like it. I miss a lot of things I had... but I love it here, too."

Thomas watched her


Shannon nodded, "Thats good" she replied

"Well, I should try to get something outta him I guess." i said and turned to walk back.


Lilyana nodded. "I'm glad I found good friends and Haylen."

"I'll wait out here for you" Thomas replied


Shannon smiled a bit, "Thats very good" she replied, "Have you met my daughters?" Shannon asked

"Thank you." I said to him, appreciating his presence.

"Only Erin and Colleen, yet." Lilyana replied.

Thomas nodded, then turned back to the window

Shannon nodded, "You'll like them, especially Erin" she replied

I walked back into the room and looked at Hermann. "Again, for your daughter's sake. Why did you kill Lily? Why did she have to die?"


"I'm good friends with them already, but they told me a lot about Bridget and Sara." Lilyana smiled.

Thomas watched Haylen as she interviewed the suspect


Shannon smiled a bit, "Thats great" she replied, "I'm glad you get along well with them."

"Okay... okay... I was responsible for that accident. But she wasn't supposed to die! It was supposed to be a warning for her to keep her mouth shut!" Hermann replied, looking up at me with a played regretting face.
"That's all I needed... take him outta my sight.... oh and Mister... Hermann... whipe that regret off your face. You played me once, that's not gonna happen again."
"What happens to my daughter?" he asked in concern.
"I'll take care of that." I replied shortly and walked out of the room, obviously upset.

Thomas watched, then looked at Haylen, he knew he did a good job, but he could tell that she didn't feel like it

I leaned against the wall across from the interrogation room and ran a hand through my hair, which I had loose today. I took a deep breath and then look up at Thomas with a somewhat sad expression.

Thomas looked at Haylen, then nodded to her before walking off

Not really wanting to be alone, I followed him as we were going in the same direction anyways.

Thomas walked back to the break room were Shannon and Lilyana were

Once Lilyana saw me and Thomas coming back she walked up to me, hugging me and then looked at us. She noticed my still somewhat sad expression.
"What happens to me, now?" she asked, almost scared.

Thomas looked ay Lilyana, then at Haylen, as did Shannon

I looked at them, also, not really sure what they'd expect.
"Well, you don't have any family left here I suppose... does your dad have any family left?" I asked her and she shook her head.
I looked at Thomas and Shannon a little uncertain about what to reply.

Shannon looked at her, "Take her in" she mouthed

I nodded slightly and looked at Lilyana.
"Well, seems that I am the only one left you have now. Want to stay with me?"

Lilyana's face lit up, "Really?" she asked

"Sure." I assured her. I wouldn't be able to just let my best friend's daughter be put into the forster care system. Who knows where she lands then?

Lilyana was all smiles, she got her backpack, then walked back up to Haylen, Shannon and Thomas both smiled a bit

Of course after her father was arrested the youth wellfare office was informed and a female social worker was now walking up to us. I looked at Lilyana, who was all smile and smile a little as well.
"You'll have to talk to that woman first, who's coming. Since I am not a parent or legal part of your family she has to do her job, but it won't take long." I tell her, as the social worker approached with a small smile.

Lilyana nodded, "Okay" she replied as the worker got up to them

"Hello, I'm Kaitlin Parker and you must be Lilyana Hermann." she greeted Lilyana, who shyly shook the woman's hand and nodded. Mrs. Parker greeted us as well.
"I'd like to talk to her for a moment. Does she have any family left in town?"
"She's got no family left at all, but... if possible, I'd like to take her in." I replied and Mrs. Parker nodded.
"That should be working." she replied and then took Lilyana to the smaller conference room, to talk to her in private.
And as I watched them leave I couldn't help it. I knew I was going to break down and cry, as a tear ran down my cheek. Since I hated crying in front of others, I wanted to leave but was stopped by someone pulling me close.
