NYPD Major's Ball [everyone]

As she was the one to start those little actions I found myself happily complying and just holding her close as I place a small kiss on her cheek.
You're getting into trouble Mac.... my brain tells me, but I just shrug inwardly.

I close my eyes when I feel the kiss on my cheek, I'm in big trouble now, the woerst part is that I don't even care about who can see us. What is Sinclair sees us.. Oh well thats a problem for another day.

"You seem to feel quite safe with me, huh?" I ask her after a few minutes, honestly not caring about the people around us, but still feeling a little strange, knowing that I actually am in trouble right now.

Thomas and Shannon were dancing along side Mac and Stella, as they danced, Thomas kissed Shannon's cheek

I whisper and keep him close to me like it was my last night on earth.

"Am glad to hear that, though we might be in trouble..." I say but smile lightly.

"why would you be in trouble?" I ask with a small smile already knowing what he means but I want him to say it

"Just... because..." I start and the stop. "I'm just a poor man here." I whisper into her ear, not wanting anyone else to hear it.

"and I'm just a poor woman I guess" I whisper back at him and smile a little, I know how he feels. We're both human right

"Then I'm not alone I guess." I say but actually don't want to pull away.

"you never are alone Mac, you know that" I pull away a little so I can face him "Never, I promise"

I give her loving smile, not sure what to do, nor really what to say, but I'm pretty sure that I somehow just fell in love with my best friend.
"You'll never be alone either." I promis.

"I know" I smile. Is it possible that I want something more than friendship? Could there be something more between us?

I am actually not really sure what to think now, but there is one feeling that I know too well.
"What are you thinking?"

"há?" I ask when I hear Mac say something, guess I was lost in my own thoughts

"I was just wondering if you may want to share your thoughts." I ask again.

"how many years have we known each other?" I ask, trying to change the topic a little

"More than 15 years. Why?" I say instantly, but am wondering why she changed the topic.

"Thats quite long isn't it" I smile and plant a soft kiss on your cheek "I'm glad to have you as partner"

"I can only agree to that." I reply warmly. "Sometimes I don't know if I would still be here without you."

"Maybe not on the NYPD parties but you sure would still lead the lab even when I'm gone" I tell him while my eyes lock with his

"I'm not sure about that, yet, but you're probably right." I say with a small smile, as she locks eyes with me. "Though I'd be safely tugged away in my shell."

"Are you saying that I'm the only reason you're not in your shell?" I smile while we still dance along with the slow music

"Well, I think you are. Because you're the only one who's able to get me out, easily." I confess with a warm smile.
Yes, she actually is the reason why I am not in my shell right now.

"you're quite Stubborn so I'm glad you seem to come out of your shell easily when I try to get you out of it Taylor" I tell him with a smile. Not much later the music stops and it's time for some speeches. Very boring if you ask me..
