spending time with his niece (Haylen)

Lilyana smiled, catching her breath as she watched some more birds flying around.
"What's your favorite flower, uncle Thomas?" she asked after a moment.

"The rose" Thomas replied, "It reminds me of my wife" he added

"That's sweet." she said, smiling. "It's my favorite flower as well."

Thomas smiled when she said that, "You seem to be just like it." he replied

Lilyana blushed a little.
"As beautiful as the blossom, but as dangerous as it thorns." she said.

Thomas smiled when she said that, "That you are" he replied, he then looked at his watch, "You hungry?" Thomas asked

Lilyana nodded in reply to his question. "You think I'm dangerous?"

Thomas stood up, "I do" he replied

"Why?" she asked a little surprised as she got up as well.

"Because your a tough lass" Thomas replied

Lilyana looked at him then smiled a bit. "I can be." she said.

Thomas nodded as he started to walk back to the camp site, "Of that I have no doubt" he replied

Lilyana giggled a bit as she walked next to him, if possible.

Thomas smiled a bit, "Your mom tell you that I was in army?"

"She mentioned that. Must be hard..." Lilyana replied, frowning a little.

Thomas nodded, "It was" he replied

Lilyana nodded a little, not sure what she should reply now.

Thomas lead her back to the campsite, once there, he got a fire going

Lilyana watched him carefully, alway trying to learn as much as possible. "What are we having for dinner?" she asked curiously.

"Pork and rice" Thomas replied

"Need some female cooking help?" Lilyana asked him, smirking a little.

Thomas smiled, "Get the rice into the small pot behind me." he replied

"Done." she replied and did as she was told, humming a German song as she did.

Thomas smiled as he listened to her while getting the meat over the fire

Once Lily was done with her task, she held the pot, kneeling close to the fire, but far enough, so she couldn't get herself hurt.
