Mac pulled her close for a moment, placing a soft kiss ontop of her head. He was upset that she had to face something like this, but at the moment he couldn't do anything about it.

Mac held his little sunshine close to him, glad she was okay and cemented in his mind to always be there for her.

Once in her room, Mac set the little girl down on the bed as he knelt before her, looking at her.

Her eyes started get heavy. "Story please?" She asked sweetly.

I look at him. "Don't ya think I'm a bit too old for that? Just like to old to sit in your lap and get piggy back rides from you."

I chuckled a little.
"Maybe you're too old to get piggy back rides, but who says you're too old to be read to?" I asked seriously. "My dad sometimes read to my mother while she knitting or doing whatever had to be done."

Once I got the book I walked back to her and sat down again. It still was in a good shape, though you could see it was often read and used. I opened it and started reading the first page.
