"Well, if you want a real chance to legally be adopted you really should talk to her. We can come with you, if you want." I tell her and gave her an encouraging look.

She nodded to Mac's questions.

I gave her a small smile.

Thomas gave a small smile as well, "Lets go then" he said

Katrina breathed in deep then walked with them.

Thomas walked close to her

I walked next to her, actually knowing how much she hated to talk about her parents, but it was the only chance. I rested my hand on the small of her back for a few seconds while I said "You'll be fine."

She nodded and wrapped her arm around his.

I smiled a little when she did that and lead to the small room where the social worker was waiting for us.

Katrina looked at the lady letting her start.

Thomas stood behind her as the woman spoke to Katrina

Kat told the worker what her dad has been doing to her.

the worker wrote it down, Thomas sat next to Katrina and gently took her hand

Kat looked up at him and held his hand.

Thomas nodded to her

She smiled a little and answered a few more questions.

Thomas looked back at the social worker

I had been standing nearby, but was quiet. The social worker looked at Thomas and Katrina.
"I think with that information you have a real chance being adopted without your father signing the papers. We can take you from his home and go the way a girl living in an orphanage would go." she said more to Katrina than to Thomas.

Katrina nodded slowly.

"It'll only take a few days. For now I suggest you go back with Mr. Kelly. I don't want to put you into an orphanage for that time." she said looking at Thomas. "If that is okay for you?"

Thomas nodded, "Yes it is" he replied

The woman nodded.
"that's it for now." she said, getting up.

Katrina nodded and shook her hand. "Thank you."

The social worker smiled at Katrina.
"you're welcome, Katrina. I'm glad you already found a nice and caring family to stay with." she said, smiling a little.
