I need a hero. (Katrina/Mac)

"I guess you always have to meet the right persons in life. But she's a good girl. Someone to count on. You find that rarely in life." I say quietly my mind drifting to Stella. I've met her before Claire died and eversince then she proved to be someone to count on.

"Thinking about your girl?" I ask in a childish tone.

I look up with a small smile. How did she know that?
"Well, guess I just said that out of own experience." I admit.

I giggle. "I'm fourteen and your cousin and a girl I know these things."

"I figured as much." I said with a small smile. "But to say it... I was thinking about... well, not exactly my girl, just a close friend."

"but you want her to be." I say as a statement not a question.

She's good at reading your mind, Mac...
"You know, if you weren't my cousin I would ask you how you could tell. But since you're family... I am indeed thinking about that sometimes." I admit, the first time I ever did and I hoped she'd keep it to herself... for now.

"Its just between us don't worry. But why don't you tell her how you feel?" I ask

"Oh.....I'm sorry you got hurt." I gave you a sad smile.

"It's life right? Besides... what's not killing you makes you stronger." I say with a small smile.

I nod. "Thats very true."

I lean back on the couch. "I've learn a lot of things the hard way but most of them didn't stick."

I nod. "You got to work tomorrow?"

"Not yet. I'm on call tomorrow. Just got to go when they find another crime scene for me to work on." I said and looked up.

I nod. "Good now I don't feel so bad come here so late."

"You know, I don't mind. Even if I had been sleeping. Would never reject my family." I said.

I hug Mac then remember my hair is still wet. "Sorry."

"For what?" I ask as I notice her still wet hair, after she hugged me.

"Getting you wet." I say and touch his shirt where there was a little wet stop.

"Ah, don't worry about it." I say and smile a bit.

I give him a small smile and rub my face removing a little make up for my below eye showing a bruise not meaning to.

I of course see it and call you on it.
"Who did that to you, Kat?" I ask in a worried tone.
