I need a hero. (Katrina/Mac)

I'm out walking around its about 1:30am and I got in to another fight with my parents this fight was one of the worst. I see Mac's apartment building so i walk up out of the rain and knock on his door.

I was in my bed watching TV because I couldn't sleep when I heard the knock on my door and went to open the door, dressed in sleeping pants and an old T-Shirt from my days at the Marines. I opened the door and saw Katrina standing in front of me, wet from the rain.
"Hey. Everything okay?" I asked noticing that obviously nothing was okay for her and let her in my apartment.

I shook my head walking in. "Got in a fight with my parents again." I shrug trying to make it look like nothing.

I shank my head no. "I don't remember what started it even." I really do remember but I can't tell Mac dad found weed in my room.

"Okay." I got the point. "Want to change into something dry? I might have some things that could fit." I offer and gently rest my hand on her shoulder.

I nod, a tank top and tight jeans don't feel to good when their all wet. "thanks."

"You're welcome." I said as I walk over to my bedroom, nodding to Katrina to follow me and see what she can find for herself.

I follow Mac and find a shirt that will be long enough to cover me.

After she found somethíng I show her the way to the bathroom.
"You can put your clothes onto the clothline above the tub so they can dry. Want some hot tea or anything else?"

I gave Mac my best little girl grin. "Beer?"

I turn around to look at Katrina with a surprised expression, but then give her a smirk.
"Fine, I'm with you, what's gonna happen. But only because I know that I wasn't much different at your age." I say with a soft grin.

I look at Mac shook. "Damn your really chilled out. Can I smoke a joint too?" Ok maybe that was a bit over the line.

"Uh... no. That I won't let you do, because I think a young woman like shouldn't do that." I say with a small smile. Yeah, she might have crossed the line here, but then I allowed her to and I allowed her more than she might thought I would. But then she had enough problems and she obviously came here to seek a hiding spot and to calm down and maybe talk about what happened, so I didn't want to cause more tension and anger for her. Besides, she really was old enough and I would keep an eye on her, like I somehow always did.

I shrug and shut the door to change. At least he didn't get mad and yell at me. I change into his shirt then walk out to the living room. "Sorry if I woke you, just didn't know where else to go."

"It's okay. I couldn't sleep anyway." I said and gave her a somewhat soft smile.
"Besides I feel better knowing you're here and warm then out there wandering through the streets."

"Don't worry about me I could have sneaked in to a hotel room for the night." I say and sit on the couch. "Like I've said I'm a street girl I as tough as they come." I smile trying to get Mac not to worry.

"Yeah, I know. Anyway I'm glad you came here. Don't forget that you have at least some people in your family that care about you." I told her in truth. "Think you gonna be okay?"

I nod. "Like I've said before can't break a street girl." Its good to hear I have family that cares.......Well some family.

"I know..." I replied somehow lost in my thoughts.

I watch Mac. "You ok?"

"Yeah... was just thinking that maybe... being through so much and being a... street girl might be helping you later." I said with some uncertainty.

I look at him. "What do you mean?

"Well... life can be hard as hell and it's rarely going like you want it to." I say, not looking up. "I guess as a street girl you learn how to stand your ground and get along... Something a well-kept and good-raised kid in a secure home might never learn."

I nod and watch Mac. "Well I learned from Nikki years ago. Trust me I was getting beat up alot from kids till I met her."
