Why does this always happen? (Mac/Katrina)

I cover my mouth and mumble a "I don't care if you believe me or not."

"Yeah, I know." I say seriously. "You coming?"

I sigh and look down. How did he hear that? I then slowly follow him.

"So, you have a favorite spot in town?" I ask her as we go back to the car. "And don't worry, I won't lecture you."

"No not really." I say and sighed. "You really aren't going to lecture me?"

"No, because first of all, it wouldn't change anything right now and second I think you have enough trouble to get through." I tell her seriously. "And third: I already suck."

"Ok first: your right. Second: I have no troubles right now. And third: Yes you do cause you took me to the fuc....damn doctor." I say smirking at him.

"See... but I rather suck than let you being hurt like that and not being checked over." I say with a small smile.

"Mac there are other ways to take away pain, other then going to the doctor." I say.

"Yeah, I saw that. But broken ribs don't feel good, if they're not wrapped correctly, trust me." I say and offer a small smile.

I look at him. "You saw what?" I ask with a funny little look.

"That there are other ways to get past any kind of pain. Look at your dad and you know why he's drinking..." I say quietly. At least that was, why he started.

I glare at Mac. "He drinks cause he's nothing but a sick bastard that can't please his wife."

I glare at Mac. "He drinks cause he's nothing but a sick bastard that gets off on hurting his daughter cause he can't please his wife."

"Sorry." I say quietly as she glares at me. "But for a man like he once was, this is some kind of pain he wanted to get over."

"What pain?" I ask as the glare leaves my face.

"Well, not that I expierenced this, but he started drinking some times after he found out his wife was cheating." I say in a kind tone. "It hit him pretty hard, though I am not defending his actions."

I shank my head. "Its called divorce." I say looking down playing with my hands.

"I know. But Taylor men have their own pride..." I say quietly. "Though he definitely chooses the wrong things to do."

I sigh and don't say another word just look out the window.

I say nothing else, but concentrate on the traffic. I know she might not like what I told her. Though, that didn't change the fact that I cared about her, like she was my daughter.

I bite my lip and let my hair cover my face.

Some time later I stop in front of a small diner, keeping my promis of inviting her for lunch.

I get out and put on my tough girl act really fast, and glance at Mac.

I give her a small smile and walk up to the diner, holding the door open for her, in my old fashioned way.
"You choose a nice place." I tell her.
