Thomas was in St. Patrick's Cathedral after his shift, he had just finished praying the rosary and was now sitting in one of the pews after giving his confession, he looked up at the front of the cathedral at the crucifix that was near the altar, the past few cases he worked took a toll on him, if it was not for his faith he felt that he would have gone off the rails, as he looked at the crucifix, he did not notice that someone was walking up behind him

That someone was me, finally deciding to come back to the things my parents taught me and the traditions I was raised with. When I had been going to college I stopped going to the mass and going to church anyways, but after I had worked a case with Shannon and spoken to another father at another church I had cemented that thought of coming back.
Actually I was glad to see to Thomas, as the past week I hadn't seen him much, mostly because we worked different cases and I had a few days off. I walked up to where he was sitting and then crossed myself.
"May I join you?" I asked in a quiet tone, not to interrupt the few people that were praying.

Thomas looked over at Haylen, a smile coming to his face, "Yes you may" he replied, moving over a bit so that Haylen had a place to sit, "What brings you here?" he asked, a bit surprised to see Haylen in a church

I sit down beside him, smiling a little.
"Well... I wanted to be a faithful child once again. Almost feel bad that I stopped being one when I went to college." I replied.

I looked down, thinking for a while.
"Honestly... right now I don't know where to start. Thought about maybe starting with confession." I said slowly.

I looked at him for a few moments, before I nodded slowly.
"Better now before it hits me and I just leave." I replied with a small smirk.
"It was good to see you, Tom."

I smiled a little and then took a deep breath, getting up to make my way over and make my confession for the first time in a few years.

Thomas watched her, smiling a bit, he was happy for her and that she came back to the church, at the same time, the priest opened the small door and listened to her

I was a little nervous about my confession, but as soon as the small door was opened I got back to all the things I learned from the moment I could talk.
I told him the most important things and of course asked for forgiveness that I hadn't been there for such a long time. When I was done, I actually felt much better.

I stepped out into the church again and did what the priest told me to do, before I turned and left. Before walking out of the door, I turned around again and looked back at the front of the church, crossing myself again and stepping out of the church.

First I didn't see him, actually I wasn't expecting to see him, as I thought he'd probably gone home by now, but when I noticed he came up to me I smiled a little.
