Let's Dance [Open]

Cassandra had been put on night shift again, which was alright with her as it didn't seem like there were as many lab rats on duty. Tugging on her lab coat, the young woman stepped into her work area and looked at the jobs that were around to be done. "DNA, DNA and oh goody, more DNA to run." She chuckled to herself. Picking up a set of gloves, she slid her hands into them before setting to work on the first set of samples on the list. Once she had them set up, she moved quickly over to the small iPod speakers and pressed play. A little music couldn't help the situation she figured, and no one else seemed to be around apart from those busy in other parts of the lab.

One thing led to another and while she was deep in concentration with the job at hand, she began to sing softly along with the music and dancing. It was just a habit she had picked up, mostly from the bar when she would dance as she mixed drinks.

At the same time, Thomas was walking by the DNA lab when he heard someone singing. He stopped and looked in, seeing a young woman singing to herself. Thomas watched her for a bit, seeing that she was lost in both her work and music. "I see that your a singer as well." he said to her in his Irish accented voice, hoping that he didn't scare her when he said that.

It took Cassandra a moment to realize there was someone else in room, causing her to stop what she was doing. "Oh, um, just a habit I picked up when I was bar tending actually." She replied, blushing a bit as she slowly turned around to face the man that was addressing her. "I can stop if you want.." She added, moving to turn down the music. She figured it probably didn't bother most people, otherwise she would have been told. "So, what brings you by the lab Detective?" She inquired, resting her hands on the work table.

Thomas nodded a bit in reply when Cassandra said that to him. "You don't have to stop" he replied as he walked into the room. "I just came by to check on the DNA for the Anderson case." he added, stopping once he was close enough to her.

"Looks like you're in luck detective" She smiled, pointing at the computer. "Yours just happened to the first I picked up when I got it. Just started running it through CODIS. Might take a bit though."

Biting her lower lip, she glanced over at the detective standing in the lab. She'd seen him around the lab and spoken to him on cases but didn't really know him outside of work. "So, do you sing?"

Thomas nodded in reply when Cassandra said that to him. "I do" he replied, "Just not in your style." he added as he watched her.

Curiosity piqued, Cassandra raised an eye brow. "Let me guess..." She looked him up and down with her brown eyes. "Blues... No no wait, jazz." She guessed. Picking up another sample she began to prep the next one. Oddly enough she could see the detective being a singer. Heck, maybe he was even talented enough to play an instrument.

Her parents had tried to get her to play instruments but she had never had the ability. Her life had been science.

Thomas smiled a bit in reply as Cassandra tried to peg his taste in music. "Not even close lass" he said to her while waiting for the DNA result to come up.

"Darn and here I thought I could read people." She chuckled. She opened her mouth to say something when the computer beeped. "I think we have a hit." Cassandra grinned triumphantly. Pointing to the printer almost on cue the results printed out.

"I hope it helps." She smiled, popping in the next sample. "Going to tell me or am I going to have to keep guessing your musical genre?"

Thomas took the paper from Cassandra at the same time and looked it over. After she said that, Thomas looked at her. "Take note of my accent" he said, giving her a hint before walking out of the room.

"What? No showing me your talents?" She called out after him. Letting out a soft sigh she turned back to her work at hand. "Guess it's back to work for me." She sighed. With an accent like his Cassandra was sure he had women fawning over him whether he was singing or just talking to him.

Thomas walked back down the hall to meet up with Mac. The information he had would help their case greatly.
