Having a walk [Kasey]

Well THAT sure was a pretty good day of school I thought. Moving from California all the way to New York was a totally different experience. I mean uniforms? Home Ec? Seriously, New York prep schools were so different from a regular California public school. I sighed and thought , I'll just give this a chance
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw my uncle: Det. Mac Taylor. I vaguely remember spending ANY time with him at all so it feels strange to all of sudden, live with him. I'm grateful that he's not the regular "strict" guardian, he actually gave me freedom and independence. Ever since my parents died, I never developed a close relationship with any of my relatives. I think Uncle Mac will be someone I should reach out, too.

"Hi Uncle Mac!"

-Hi Uncle Mac. I replied, trying to put on a fake smile. I really hope his military and law enforcement instincts don't notice how much I'm not really liking my school.

School was OK, Nothing much is going on but I think I really want to try out for the volleyball team.

You know those awkward moments you have with people you talk to? It felt that way on the walk home with Uncle Mac. I mean, it seemed like he wanted to say something but it was never going to come out..oh well...
I agreed to going home now because I was really tired. And I also wanted to get accustomed to my uncle's place.

After arriving at Uncle Mac's apartment, I thanked him for everything and headed to my room and got started on homework. I didn't want to cause so much of a problem at home.

At least I got a little closer to him today I thought.

On that note, I think I might start liking New York City.

I heard a soft knock on the door
Come in! I yelled.

Uncle Mac had brought in some chocolate and bread My favorite snack I thought. He had a serious look on his face and he wanted to tell me something. Gosh, the more I was trying to be less of problem to his home the more I think he's getting mad. I listened closely to what he had to say.

I'm not a huge expert on relationships, my parents had a great one with no problems and all my friends were single and didn't care about the boys. But when Uncle Mac told me about his girlfriend, I didn't know what to say. I have to admit, I was quite confused.

Wow...umm..that's great! I stuttered. Well that went well. Have I met her before?

Stella Bonasera...Stella Bonasera...the name rings a bell but I just couldn't remember it.

Stella Bonasera is it? I said.

And then I remembered: she was the same lady I saw in the pictures Uncle Mac had up. She was around him almost all the time, like partners in crime.

I gasped. Yes I do know her...

I knew how important Det. Bonasera was to Uncle Mac and I was super happy for him. But I kinda saw a strange look on his face...
Uncle Mac? Something wrong I asked.

What doubts are you thinking about? I ask him quietly.
I may be only a niece to you, but I'm 17, Uncle Mac! If you need to talk to me about anything, you can. I said, just to reassure him.

I smiled.

-It spent so a long time alone... I'm not sure I will make her happy...

Uncle Mac seemed to worry much, about satisfying me and satisfying Det. Bonasera. I wasn't sure why he was so worried, he was an amazing person.
