CTU has managed to contact Jack earlier the day, they offered to clear his fugitive status if he helped them, the details weren't clear, they told him to meet with a CTU Agent who would tell him everything he need to know, once there he learned that CTU New York was bombed, killing the director and numerous field agents also severely injuring most of the other field agents, CTU need Bauer to help them end the threat, so Bauer agreed, the CTU agent then brought Bauer to a briefing with the new CTU Director and he said the threat came from a group of middle east extremists and Intel told that they had a nuclear weapon in their hands. "So what would I do?" Asked Bauer, the director replied "A attack has happened at the UN building, eliminate all hostiles." "Sure." said Bauer then he left and head toward the UN building which was already surrounded by local law enforcement and FBI agents.
